PEI 55+ Games Society Announce Summer Games

55+ Games enthusiasts prepare, the 2010 Vogue Optical 55+ Provincial Summer Games will be retuning this year to the Cavendish Resort Area and will take place June 15^th to 19^th. The largest event will be the Celebration Ceremony on Friday evening at 6:00pm at the Fisherman’s Wharf.   This event will be followed by a ceilidh at the North Rustico Lion’s Club.   All events with the exception of lawn bowling and tennis will be held in the Cavendish Resort area. Events include; lawn bowling, tennis, golf, darts, road cycling, bowling, cribbage, horseshoes, walking, auction 45’s, ring (washer) toss, mini golf, crokinole, scrabble, track & field, trail cycling, community picnic, contract bridge, slowpitch, bocce, nature walk, and back by popular demand is the car rally.  

The deadline for registration is June 7^th.   Registration forms are currently available.   The forms will be at numerous locations across the Island including Vogue Optical and Access PEI locations, Cavendish Resort Area office, Sport PEI, PEI 55+ Games Society and at www.pei55plusgamessociety.com.   Participants are not only allowed but encouraged to participate in more then one event, so register early as spaces will fill up.  

The PEI 55+ Games Society was formed in 1997.   Since then the society has seen a steady growth in numbers and now has a total of approximately 900 members.   The Society’s overall objectives are to promote active participation by seniors, to demonstrate their values and abilities, to create an awareness of their contribution to the Canadian lifestyle, and to encourage physical and social achievement through participation and friendly competition.
